About the Character You're Submitting

Name: Zoe Lothar
What world they came from: Original Character
Birthday (if known): July 1st
Age: 24
Species: Fae
Occupation: Beggar, cheap magic performer
Appearance: Zoe’s appearance vibrantly matches her personality. She dresses in what most people would consider an eccentric manner. She wears simple white shorts with a matching spaghetti strap tank top that bares her midriff. Several assorted belts, usually in earthy natural colors, tangle around her waist at different angles, some of them skinny with delicate buckles and other thick and clunky. A band wraps around each of her thighs, the one of the right solid white fabric with an image of a pair of bat wings on it and the one on the left a weaving of leather straps. On her right leg, a deep purple stocking rises from her foot to slightly above the knee, covered halfway by slightly baggy silken white cloth attached to her sturdy boots. These are reinforced with a thin layer of steel, so whenever Zoe walks someplace hard, they click against the floor. On Zoe’s left leg is another deep purple stocking, but shorter, almost covered by a matching white cloth. Around Zoe’s knee is tied yet another bolt of the same. Over her arms, Zoe wears gloves that allow her fingers to break out. These gloves go to above Zoe’s elbow, and are the same purple as the stockings on her legs. Over all of this, Zoe wears a cloak with a hood that hides most of her body. The sleeves are sliced off near the middle and reattached with strings so the sway and dangle over Zoe’s gloves.

Hidden under all of this, Zoe’s skin is strangely pale, no matter how much sun she receives. Zoe’s face, most of the time hidden under the hood of her cloak, is very striking, not what one would consider ugly or beautiful, but memorable. Her expression is usually very fierce and annoyed, framed by electric blue hair that falls to her knees. Zoe’s eyes are light purple, more amethyst in color because when natural light strikes them, they reflect it dimly so her eyes seem like liquid crystal. The purple is almost translucent. The coloring of Zoe’s eyes and hair comes from the technology of her world, she’s sort of a test tube baby, and because of her fae blood.

Like most Fae, Zoe has wings. Hers are translucent like most, iridescent even. They flicker from black to the same shocking blue of Zoe’s hair. However, most of the times Zoe keeps her wings inside her skin, as Fae sometime do. Her own personal reasoning is because most of the times her wings get in the way. The other reason is pulling her wings in or pushing them out is quite painful.
Special abilities/talents: Zoe’s best magical talent is her illusions. She can morph an object in the mind’s eye so that it isn’t what it seems. She can mess with a person’s eyesight, blur it or fill their vision with one color. However, her most powerful illusions are full immersion illusions, where the scenery changes dramatically. It’s here where the mind is truly messed with, because anything that happens inside a full immersion illusion happens in ‘real life’ simply because the mind of the affected believes it, whether consciously or unconsciously. Zoe herself is going to be affected by her illusion, so if a million swords are hanging above to kill whoever is in the illusion, Zoe’s going to die too unless she creates a protection for herself. In full immersion illusions, it becomes easier for Zoe to cast, but a full immersion illusion within a full immersion illusion is tough.

The energy taken in a full immersion illusion depends on the area of the illusion, the number of people affected, and sometimes the duration. An illusion can be made to be set there forever until another person comes along and figures out how to break it, but these illusions take up a lot of energy and therefore can’t be very complex. Complexity is another factor in the energy toll. For example, a illusion that turns a meadow into a beach wouldn’t be too straining, because the mass and the objects added/subtracted remains relatively low. However, turning a forest into a beach or a meadow into a forest is more difficult. The reasoning is in the former, the caster of the illusion is taking away the mass of all those trees. In the latter it’s just the opposite where all the trees have to be added in. Even if no mass is subtracted or added, full immersion illusions are still very draining, and Zoe usually doesn't use them unless in a really dire situation, as they may leave her defenseless should she hold the power too long. Zoe is not capable of creating absolutly lethal situations with illusions, but she is skilled enough to create a dangerous enviroment.

The other power that Zoe has is a form of healing is generally called spread healing. It works just as well as regular magical healing, able to return most organs to their normal state, but obviously not bring back the dead. The thing that sets spread healing from other types of healing is that it heals everyone within at least a ten foot radius. It can’t really be controlled, but the radius can be spread with a little more energy. Because of this, spread healing is really inconvenient for in the heat of the battle, or in a confined arena, but useful for after-battle checkups. Zoe hasn’t used this gift often, but she has a relatively good grasp on the idea.

Non-magically, Zoe rather skilled at using a staff. The one she owns, stolen, naturally, is painted and glossed black, with retractable blades on either side. It’s also enchanted, it’ll never break and all Zoe has to do to summon it is to hold out her hand to the side and repeat the word Talka, which is the word for staff in her world’s old language. To release it back into the void, she repeats the same word. Luckily for her, the enchantment only works under her name because she was the first to handle it after the maker and the merchant.

Quirks: Zoe’s rather…flexible. She can twist herself in very strange positions, and sometimes does so to creep people out. Usually, she keeps this to herself. Also, Zoe doesn’t cuss. Her world, though excessively violent, looked down upon cussing. The same applies to sexual puns and innuendos. It’s not like Zoe is innocent of these things, but old habits die hard, she had to protect the ears of her siblings. Another thing that she picked up from her world was her method of speech. Once in a while, the grammar and words of her sentences will sound from an older era.
Personality: Zoe likes to play the mysterious person, but once you get to her know her, her personality changes quickly. Zoe’s very bossy, commanding, biting, and sarcastic. Most consider her loud and obnoxious, demanding. If you don’t listen to her, she’ll put you in your place. Most of the times Zoe’s personality is abrasive to people, grating on their nerves easily. She’s very self-assured. Zoe’s reactions to insults vary, she either laughs it off or explodes, and usually when she explodes, she’s quite rash. Zoe’s not afraid to use force, but she prefers someone to back down before it comes to that. She might be considered lazy in certain circumstances. The things that gets Zoe the most is people trying to control her, even though she might not be in the best of positions to challenge them. However, she does know when she doesn’t stand a chance. She’ll do her best to sulk and show her displeasure though. Zoe doesn’t like men much, or children. She sees children as annoyances, especially when they cry, and so tries to stay away. This personality is the mask that Zoe uses to hide another personality, but this one fits her very well anyways.

The side of Zoe people don’t usually see is her sorrowful side. Her past was a painful one and she keeps up her prideful charade to hide what she considers a weakness. She doesn’t like being weak. She hates it that she misses the people she cared most for, the ones that she shouldn’t care about anymore because they’re gone. Gone. Forever. They were the only people she was ever truly kind to. It’s been a long time since Zoe’s been close enough to anyone that she would tell them her past, and they she may grudgingly respect someone, she’s doesn’t really care about anyone anymore. Her anger simmers, kept carefully under control, but sometimes she get very very rash about it, especially when confronted with someone who represents the person she hates the most.
Sexual orientation: Zoe’s heterosexual, simply because in her world, heterosexuality is the norm. She’s just following the flow, for once. However, Zoe’s more mentally asexual. She doesn’t want anything to get in her way, nothing to tie her down from her goals. She’ll probably rebut any advances made on her, but if someone keeps trying, chances are she’ll probably break down, especially if that person is to her liking.
Reputation: Zoe’s just another mythic in the world, no one really special, but she’s slightly known for the quality of her illusions.

Background Information: Zoe’s world is a heavy mix of futuristic elements and older more medieval themed elements, populated by mythics. It’s always in some form of war, a very violent place. Some places soar with technological advancements, while other lie in the ruins of the war. Almost everyone knows how to fight, or at least defend themselves. Despite this, the people in each society live in harmony. Sometimes the races are mixed, Nekos with elves or fae. Opposing races, elves and dwarves, vampire and werewolves, do not mingle. There are a few exceptions, but not many. Again, Zoe’s world is exceptionally violent.

Zoe was born into a rare time of peace, to two young but caring and energetic parents. Zoe was born 13 minutes ahead of her twin sister, Cassandra. Although they were twins, they did not share exactly the same physical features. One could tell they were sisters however, and sisters they were. They often squabbled over the littlest things. Their moods swung quickly, almost so fast that their parents could not keep track. Life was enjoyable, despite the warnings of war. Those were so constant no one really worried about them, but of course both sisters were taught at least the basic arts of fighting.

Zoe’s family was upper middle class. Coupled with Cassandra’s luring charisma, Zoe and Cassandra earned themselves many many friends. When both girls were 5, their parents had a son, whom they names Isaiah. The twins were ecstatic.

However, peace was simply not made to last on Zoe’s unstable planet. War broke out, no one quite sure why, but fighting was woven through the fabric of life, so they people fought. Zoe’s parents were both warriors for the Fae, and they left their children in the care of a family friend. Slowly, Zoe emerged as a sort of family leader, Cassandra always close and supporting her. Every couple of years, Zoe’s parents would return, roughly two weeks a trip. At first, the visits were very touching. Zoe and her siblings had been lavished with lots of wealth and love in their childhood, and they adored their parents. However, as time progressed and the war worsened steadily, Zoe’s parents found themselves drawn in the downward spiral of fighting rather than their children. Visits grew shorter, grew more impersonal. The war was only one reason, the growing up of the children was another. Things were changing too fast. Every time, the Lothar children were a little more remote, a little more mature. The family simply could no longer connect.

When Zoe and Cassandra were 10, and Isaiah 5, their parents brought home Joshua and Adam. Like Zoe and Cassandra, Joshua was 13 minutes older than Adam and although they were twins, their physical features did not match up perfectly. Zoe took her two new brothers under her wing, and her little family grew tighter, more independent from the family friend and their parents.

Zoe and Cassandra were 16, Isaiah 11, and Joshua and Adam 6 when they received the news. Their parents would not be coming home again. They had died in the thick of a fierce battle. Naturally, the children were sad, especially the older ones who remembered the guidance of their parents. A small funeral was held, and for a while, the Lothar children felt guilty about being so distant to their parents. However, the damage was done and it wasn’t too long before the children drifted back together, closer than ever as the war began creeping towards the city where they lived, an ominous and foreboding cloud.

One day, while Zoe, Cassandra, Isaiah, Joshua, and Adam were at school, the house they were living in was bombed, the family friend killed instantly. Zoe immediately did her best to seize control. She brought the rest of her siblings back into their old home, and lived off the money left from their parents. Isaiah, Joshua, Adam, they all trusted Zoe implicitly, even Cassandra, who Zoe considered as a best friend and equal. Zoe and Cassandra soon graduated from high school, but more trouble sprang up and the family had to leave the house. A few people had discovered them living in the house which was now kingdom property, and would turn the siblings in to the orphanage if they were caught and found.

Again, Zoe did her best to make light of the situation. Life on the streets was tough, but still not as bad as it could have been, the money from their parents still stretching a long way. But it was dwindling. Living standards began deteriorating. Zoe and Cassandra kept the boys in school so they would have lunch to eat. Stealing became common place, clothing became ragged and stained. Zoe and Cassandra used their gifts to help earn money to help them survive, returning to the place they were staying for the night tired and bleak. They always tried to put on their best face for their brothers though.

When the Siblings thought that things could get no worse, Cassandra disappeared. There was no note, no trace of her. Whatever had happened to her, she only took whatever was on her person at the time. She and Zoe were 21, a time that should have called for celebration. The Siblings were devastated at the loss, even more than the death of their parents.

Zoe was 22, Isaiah 18, Joshua and Adam 13. The younger siblings’ school was bombed. Zoe found out by news cast and sprinted to the school, feverishly hoping for survivors. There were none. Zoe collapsed in the ruins, her arms running with blood as she cried over the dead forms of her brother’s body, dug out with just her hands. Zoe had nothing to live for anymore. All of her family was gone, and there was the giant void in her heart that would never be healed every again. What did she have to hope for? Revenge? Who was she dole this out to? Better to die and let death sweep her up in his embrace to join her brothers. Zoe would have never left, she would have died there herself but for one persistent person who infuriated her enough to change her mind set. That person was an angel, one of the few in Zoe’s mostly Fae and elf city. His name, Gabriel, was a generic one among angels, nothing exceptional. However, his kindness was quite something. For weeks upon weeks, Gabriel stayed with Zoe, bringing her water and food, which she took without really thinking. Gabriel’s patience was endless, even when Zoe struck out at him. Often Zoe begged for mercy from him, one blow from the glittering sword by his waist. Naturally, he declined.

Finally, Gabriel was able to bring the smallest spark of sense into Zoe’s mind. She picked herself up, locked away her pain and sorrow in the tightest corner of her heart. Spurning any further help from Gabriel, Zoe put herself back onto the streets.

It’s now, Zoe being 24, that she finds out about the war between God and Satan. For a while now, she’s convinced herself that God is the one who caused her all the pain and misery. After all, angels are his servants are they? Zoe is slightly delusional about this whole idea, she’s just so desperate for a way to strike back, to get back, and maybe, die trying. She’s been repeating the thought in her mind for a long time now, pounding it through her head that she wants to fight for Satan and hoping that someone will notice and bring her in.
Heaven or Hell? Hell. Although Zoe isn’t what you might consider evil, she has a will for power and a will for revenge. She’s not going to stop, and fighting for Satan furthers her goals. She’s also quite desperate.
